Toko Molefi Lawrence is a 33-year-old from Mokgola village, Zeerust, North West. He is a founder of Mzilikazi Foundation that is giving hope and restoring dignity in rural communities.
"I started this foundation in 2024 to help those in needy by donating sanitary pads, food parcels and school uniforms", he said.
"To ensure no young girl is going to miss school because of her periods. We want to end period poverty, restore dignity and keep girls in the classrooms where they belong" he added.
Majority of young girls are going through difficult times and they are afraid to speak that they can't afford sanitary towels because of societal pressure and expectations.
"Many young girls miss school every month simply because they cannot afford sanitary pads. No girl should have to choose between dignity and education. So, they should feel free to ask for help from us", he said. We all need community heroes to uplift our communities, and Toko is an example of that. He is eager and willing to close that gap in rural communities.
"We want to reach more schools in rural areas, this includes offering menstrual health education for both girls and boys, and eventually have a sustainable supply where we don't just donate but also creat jobs", he concluded.
